Teltonika FMC003
FMC003 is the premium 4G version of our plug-and-play model. Future-proof network (LTE Cat 1 + 2G fallback), bigger backup battery (240 mAh) and more accurate event detection. Plug into the OBD-II port and you are live.
What is in the box
- FMC003 device (with a 4G SIM already installed)
- Sticker with IMEI and QR code
- Warranty card (24 months)
Step by step
- Find the OBD-II port. On every car after 2001 (petrol) or 2004 (diesel) the port sits under the dash on the driver side, around the left knee. It is often behind a small plastic flap labelled "OBD" or "Diagnose".
- Plug FMC003 into the port. The connector only fits one way. Push gently until it clicks.
- Turn the key to ACC. FMC003 powers up automatically. The 4G radio takes a bit longer for the initial network registration (around 60-90 seconds) - the device tries LTE first and falls back to 2G if unavailable.
-
Check the LED indicators.
- 🟢 Green (PWR) - solid = powered
- 🟡 Yellow (GPS) - solid = GPS fix ready
- 🔵 Blue (GSM/LTE) - slow blink = connected on 4G LTE, fast blink = 2G fallback
- Wait for the first packet. Open the dashboard and within 2-3 minutes the car shows up online. On 4G the first packet arrives a bit faster than on FMB003.
FMC003 advantages over FMB003
- 4G LTE Cat 1 - more stable and future-proof (2G is being phased out across the EU)
- 240 mAh battery - tamper alerts up to ~45 minutes after power loss (vs 30 on FMB003)
- More accurate events - improved accelerometer for harsh accel/brake/cornering detection
- Crash detection - emergency alert on impact
- Faster data flow - LTE latency <500ms vs ~1.5s on 2G
Discreet installation (optional)
We sell an OBD extension cable (15 €) for tucking FMC003 in an anti-theft location (behind the dash, under a seat). Email support to order one.
Frequently asked questions
No LEDs after plugging in
Turn the key to the ACC position. Some cars cut OBD power when the key is out. Check that FMC003 is fully seated.
Blue LED blinks very fast
FMC003 is running on 2G fallback (no LTE signal at this location). In Bulgaria 4G coverage is near 100% on main roads, so this is rare. You can move the device to a different spot in the car for better antenna position.
I do not see the car in the dashboard
Wait 5-10 minutes. First 4G registration plus GPS fix takes up to 2 minutes combined. If after 15 minutes there is still no position, email support with the IMEI.
How much data does FMC003 use?
4G does not mean more data - the same protocol (Teltonika Codec 8E) runs on LTE and 2G. About 1-2 MB per month under normal use. The SIM ships with 500 MB for 10 years - more than enough.
What do I do when the car goes to a workshop?
Unplug FMC003 before handing the car over (the workshop may block it). After you get the car back just plug it in again. No data lost.
Can I move it to another car?
Yes, instantly. Pull it from one car and plug it into the next. No system changes.
